Mankind’s primitive, contagious plague, yawning, has infected the animal kingdom in the most adorable way, and it is getting out of hand. Here are 11 of the worst cases we have seen thus far.

1.

Very Tired Wrinkles

They are just very tired wrinkles.

This little wrinkle will soon infect all of the other wrinkles, and then it will be complete anarchy. Zombies are not going to be the start of the apocalypse; yawning wrinkle pups are. We must protect them.

The lion should probably sleep tonight…

Hakuna Matata is a nice theory, but this lion should most definitely be worried. The poor guy has very severe symptoms: extended tongue, askew legs, inability to remain standing. Godspeed, my friend.

At least this patient is responsible enough to try and quarantine herself inside of her shell. We appreciate you.

Parent of the year

Parent of the year

What a good mom, sticking by her kitten even in an extremely contagious state. She puts up a nonchalant front, but she is internally fighting this deadly disease.

5.

One day old and already behind on sleep

One day old and already behind on sleep.

Unfortunately, the young are the most susceptible, and because of this the newborn pup has caught the plague. What a shame.

Yet another case of an adolescent animal. However, this is a very early stage, so there just might be a sliver of hope for the cub.

Even those with protective spikes surrounding their bodies are not safe. What have we unleashed upon the world?

Kitten snuggles under a blanket for a much-deserved cat nap.

This little guy took to snuggling under a blanket in a futile attempt to rid himself of the infection. I wish you luck, buddy.

Yet another victim of the extended tongue, but it has evolved to a curl. Some doctors theorize that the disease spreads through the tongue to the rest of the body, but they have little evidence to back it up.

Monkey desperately attempting to suppress its yawns so he can finish his work. He doesn’t have time to sleep. He has a busy schedule.

Our close cousin was patient zero, exhibiting a form of yawn very similar to a human using his hand to try, in vain, to stop the plague from spreading.
