“Mr. Bantam please come to the Front Office, Mr. Bantam to the Front Office”

Mr. Who? One of the new additions to the Skutt Catholic faculty is Mr. Oliver Bantam. He is the “Coordinator of Instructional Technology” which means he is here to help teachers and students leverage technology for educational purposes. He can help with anything iPad related as well as help find unique ways to do a school project or something creative using the school iPads. This summer, in efforts to maximize the learning opportunity the iPads give, Mr. Bantam had some teachers participate in training sessions that encouraged these teachers to put the devices to work.

Originally from Spearfish, South Dakota, Mr. Bantam went to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and achieved a degree in Business. He also attained his Masters in School Administration at Creighton University. Before becoming a SkyHawk, Mr. Bantam worked at Mercy High School for eight years. He taught business and computers for five years and was director of technology for the last three. He now also has two-year old twin sons with his wife of six years.

Mr. Bantam started out in business but found it boring, “I chose teaching because I liked working with kids through coaching experiences. My parents were both principals and agreed that it would be a good fit for me.”

“I like the students, staff and the size of the school. It is bigger than where I was before but still able to get to know the students. I also like that Mass is offered every morning,” Mr. Bantam has already resolved many issues with iBooks not downloading and has added and dropped classes from eBackpack for many students, if you’re experiencing these difficulties he will most likely be located in the Media Center or around the halls and commons. The best way to contact Mr. Bantam about iPad troubles would be by email at [email protected].
