Skutt Catholic Girls Tennis Kicks Off Season

Skutt Catholic girls tennis team played their first match of the season.

The SkyHawks watch Gretna and Norris play in their first triangular of the season.

The girls tennis team began their season with a triangular at home against Gretna and Norris. The three teams faced each other in a series of doubles and singles matches.

Skutt Catholic junior Elly Beeson played number one singles against sophomore Crystal Craft from Norris. Although the match was close and filled with admirable shots from both players, Craft defeated Beeson with a score of 8-4.

Number two singles was played by Skutt Catholic junior Gracie Killgore against Norris sophomore Josephine Ivy. Killgore won with a score of 8-2.

Skutt Catholic senior Anna Johnson and junior Ansley Nelson played number one doubles against Norris seniors Anastasia Krueger and Taylor Ronne. The match ended with Norris winning 8-2.

Number two doubles was played by Skutt Catholic junior Erin Gottschalk and sophomore Grace Faltin against Norris sophomores Georgia Havel and Isabel Havel. The match ended in a close win by Norris, with a final score of 8-6.

Skutt Catholic also played a series of matches against Gretna. Killgore played number one singles against Gretna junior Ruth Isaacson and won 8-5.

Skutt Catholic senior Christina Davis defeated Gretna sophomore Emma Beran 8-3 in number two singles.

Beeson and Augustine defeated Gretna seniors Trinity Ortlieb and Jenna Brewer with a score of 8-4. Skutt Catholic senior Sunni Liu and junior Amy Mattern played number two doubles against Gretna senior Kinsli Auman and junior Kelsey Miller. Gretna won with a score of 8-2.

Overall, the SkyHawks had a successful first match and are working hard towards their goals for the season.
