The house was packed for the Class B-2 subdistrict, between Skutt Catholic, Elkhorn, Elkhorn South, and Bennington. The SkyHawks squared off with Elkhorn South, followed by Elkhorn taking on Bennington. Elkhorn South was a very unusual Class B team, they are a Class B team, but play an all Class A schedule. The Storm came in at 8-12, but were far much better than their record.

The game started out as Elkhorn South jumping out to an 8-0 lead. Skutt Catholic battled back to take the lead 10-8 at the end of the first quarter. Elkhorn South kept pushing the ball down low, and knocking down three-pointers, and led at half 18-14.

High emotions running through the players, running through the fans, and everybody around. Elkhorn South kept shooting nearly lights out from three, and Skutt Catholic couldn’t keep up at the pace of the Storm, and at the end of the third quarter Elkhorn South led 37-28.

The fourth quarter was Elkhorn South running away with the game, and the final would end up 51-35 Storm. “We just never really found our rhythm and had an off night. We just need to learn from last night and work hard these next few days to prepare for Saturday’s game.” Post Sydney McDermott said.

Elkhorn South would go onto win the District, and now Skutt Catholic will play their sub-state game here on Saturday, the time and opponent will he announced shortly.

Skutt Catholic hoping to qualify for their first state tournament since 2011, and win their first state championship in school history.
