Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is a Nintendo switch game that is the fifth of a series. Gamers were counting down the hours and minutes until the game came out.

The game was released on December 7, 2018 and sold more than five million copies in three days making it the fastest-selling Nintendo switch game. In this game there are 74 characters and they must unlock 66 of them. Nintendo included new characters from their other games such as Inkling from Splatoon, Princess Daisy from the Mario series, and Ridley from the Donkey Kong Series.

I would say that I am an enthusiast of video games, but not that I am a gamer or a expert by any means. I do not own a switch so I played with the Smash Ultimate club that meets after school on Thursdays. Beforehand, I had often played the previous games: Super Smash Bros. Melee, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Although my personal favorite was Melee. However, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate surprised me and exceeded my expectations as inexperienced as I am.

A new added feature is the stage morph. Players can choose two different stages to fight on and in the middle of the battle, the stages will shift back and forth. Players can also select different themes music to play during battles. Not to mention, the theme song for the game called “Lifelight” extremely catchy and will most definitely be in your head for the rest of the day.

I found that even for beginners, the game is simple to pick up on though it takes time and practice to be good. There are also even more attacks to use using different control combos. The game itself is also interesting to watch because of the animation and varying attacks. Each character has their own unique Smash attack which is fun to watch, but deadly to opponents more often than not.

All of these new feature are part of what makes Super Smash Bros. Ultimate a hit. Overall, this game is spectacular and creates a smashing game experience for beginners and veterans alike.
