Aug. 31, 2018– Number two Skutt Catholic wins against number nine Roncalli Catholic in first home game of the season.

In the first quarter, the SkyHawks showed their offensive moxey when Jarod Epperson broke off a 20-yard touchdown run and Joey White added the extra point to give the SkyHawks a 7-0 lead with 10:13 left in the first half.

Skutt added to their scoring as Jack Hassenstab made a touchdown run after a Roncalli turnover and Joey White kicked two field goals, giving the SkyHawks a 20-6 score over the Crimson Pride at the end of the first half.  An 80 yard Roncalli touchdown pass from quarterback Alex Rodgers to Jack Dotzler accounted for their scoring.

Roncalli cut the Skutt lead to seven after a long pass from Rodgers to Shane Orr for 79 yards and a subsequent fumble into the end zone that was recovered by the Crimson Pride’s Justin Niederle.

The SkyHawks offense was quick to react with a 17-yard touchdown run from Epperson and a fourth-quarter touchdown pass from quarterback Tyson Gordan to Jacob Christen to make the final score 33-13.

The SkyHawks play next Friday at Blair before hosting #1 York in a much-anticipated rematch from last year’s championship game.
