Elections for Senators and the House of Representatives are coming up this November. The League of Women Voters is holding a voter drive at Skutt Catholic today from 10:30-1:30 in the media center conference room.
“We are here with league of women voters of greater Omaha to register all the high school students who will turn eighteen before November for the election,” said member Hannah Young.

The League was formed in 1920 after the passing of 19th amendment to encourage women voting. Anyone, regardless of gender, can become a member of the league as long as they are over the age of 16.
In the upcoming election, there is a senator candidate and a House of Representatives candidate running. The voting for the House of Representatives occurs every two years, and the voting for a senator is every six years per candidate.

“You do not have to be 18 right now to register, you just have to be 18 before Election Day. It is our responsibility that women and people are getting out to vote,” Young said.
