February 20, 2018 — This Monday, the Skutt Catholic show choirs held an event for different choirs around the state. They transformed the commons and gym into a suitable place to host the groups. The event had a planned 21 choirs to compete, but due to weather conditions eight groups had to cancel.

Chris Storm, Director of Fine and performing arts and the chair of contemporary and commercial choirs at NCDA (Nebraska Choral Directors Association), brought the event to Skutt Catholic. He is in charge of getting the event up and running smoothly throughout the day.

This event is not a traditional competition. All the choirs are performing for the opportunity to get a gold rating. This rating means that the judges scored the group with a high enough score.

The event kicked off with Vivace performing their competition show. The groups that performed included both high schoolers and middle schoolers. Near the end of the day Allegro showed off their very own show of the audience. Each choir received a critique directly after their performance so they can use it to improve throughout the year.

The event raised a good amount of funds for the choir department and represented show choir in a local area.
